Gender Affirming Care

“When someone with the authority of a teacher, say, describes the world and you are not in it, there is a moment of psychic disequilibrium, as if you looked into a mirror and saw nothing. Yet you know you exist and others like you, that this is a game done with mirrors.”
— Adrienne Rich

I am deeply familiar with issues faced by the larger queer, trans, and gender non-binary communities. I work to create a respectful, validating, and expansive space with clients to explore their identity. It is common for us to have many identities in a lifetime, and it is difficult when those identities are not known, seen, or supported. There is no one way to be a person, yet we are often asked implicitly or told explicitly that parts of us are not ok. My approach with gender work is de-stigmatizing and non-shaming, addressing and coming into contact with held stories and social narratives that may not match your current self or the self that wants to be.

I enjoy supporting gender expansive, non-binary and trans clients with self acceptance and social navigation. It can be helpful, necessary at times to not feel alone, to have a space that is yours to receive support around difficulties in school/work, relationships and family. I hold an open space for anyone wanting to look into hormonal options, whether beginning, maintaining, or ending. I have experience exploring medical options with clients and in writing letters required for gender affirming surgeries.
